من بی‌نهایت سپاسگزارم از حمایتی که از سوی Rainbow Home در طول مسیر پناهندگی‌ام دریافت کرده‌ام. به عنوان یک پناهجوی LGBTQ+، با چالش‌های بزرگی روبه‌رو بودم—از زندگی در ترس تحت یک رژیم سرکوبگر گرفته تا دست‌وپنجه نرم کردن با ناامنی و بلاتکلیفی وضعیت پناهندگی‌ام در بریتانیا.

از اولین روزی که به Rainbow Home پیوستم، احساس کردم پذیرفته شده‌ام، ارزشمند هستم، و مورد حمایت قرار دارم. این سازمان نه‌تنها فضایی امن برای من فراهم کرد که بتوانم بدون ترس از قضاوت، تجربیاتم را به اشتراک بگذارم، بلکه در مسیریابی سیستم پیچیده پناهندگی نیز مرا یاری داد.

حمایت روحی و روانی

از طریق جلسات گروهی منظمی که برگزار می‌کردند، من جامعه‌ای را پیدا کردم که در آن احساس دیده‌شدن و شنیده‌شدن داشتم. فشارهای روانی و احساسی که همراه با درخواست پناهندگی می‌آید، گاهی غیرقابل‌تحمل است، اما Rainbow Home محیطی ایجاد کرد که در آن می‌توانستم ترس‌ها و اضطراب‌هایم را آزادانه بیان کنم.

حمایت حقوقی و پرونده پناهندگی

یکی از مؤثرترین کمک‌های Rainbow Home جمع‌آوری دقیق مدارک و مستندات برای پرونده پناهندگی‌ام بود.
نامه حمایتی کاملی که آن‌ها به هوم آفیس ارائه دادند، نقش تعیین‌کننده‌ای در دریافت تصمیم مثبت برای پناهندگی من داشت.

ادغام در جامعه LGBTQ+

Rainbow Home من را تشویق کرد که در رویدادهای Northern Pride و دیگر فعالیت‌های حمایت از حقوق LGBTQ+ شرکت کنم.
کارگاه‌ها و بحث‌های آن‌ها به من کمک کرد که احساس ارتباط و قدرت بیشتری داشته باشم و هویتم را در فضایی امن و پذیرا تقویت کنم.

فرصت‌هایی برای بیان هنری

به عنوان یک هنرمند، حضور در Rainbow Home این امکان را به من داد که داستانم را از طریق هنر به اشتراک بگذارم.
یکی از تأثیرگذارترین تجربیاتم اجرای زنده نقاشی در Republic Gallery در روز جهانی ایدز بود، رویدادی که بیان هنری را با آگاهی‌بخشی در مورد LGBTQ+ و مسائل مرتبط با HIV ترکیب می‌کرد.

کمک‌های عملی

علاوه بر حمایت‌های حقوقی و روحی، این سازمان به من کمک کرد که حقوقم را بشناسم، به مراقبت‌های بهداشتی دسترسی پیدا کنم و با زندگی در بریتانیا به عنوان یک پناهنده سازگار شوم.
راهنمایی‌های آن‌ها در زمینه مسکن، اشتغال، و تحصیل همچنان برای من بسیار ارزشمند است.

تأثیری که زندگی‌ام را تغییر داد

بدون Rainbow Home، مسیر پناهندگی من به‌مراتب دشوارتر و پر از احساس تنهایی می‌شد. تعهد، دلسوزی، و حمایت بی‌وقفه‌ی آن‌ها به من قدرت داد که حتی در سخت‌ترین لحظات نیز ادامه دهم.

من همیشه قدردان نقشی هستم که در دریافت وضعیت پناهندگی‌ام ایفا کردند و امیدوارم همچنان در فعالیت‌هایشان مشارکت داشته باشم—تا بتوانم همان‌طور که آن‌ها از من حمایت کردند، من نیز به دیگران کمک کنم.

I am incredibly grateful for the support I have received from Rainbow Home throughout my sanctuary journey. As an LGBTQ+ sanctuary seeker, I faced significant challenges—from living in fear under an oppressive regime
to struggling with the uncertainty of my status in the UK.

From the very first day I joined Rainbow Home, I felt welcomed, valued, and supported. The organization not only provided a safe space where I could share my experiences without judgment, but also helped me navigate the complexities of the sanctuary system.

Emotional and Psychological Support:

Through their regular support group meetings, I found a community where I felt seen and heard. The psychological impact of seeking sanctuary is overwhelming, but Rainbow Home provided an environment where I could express my fears and anxieties freely.

Legal and Case Support:

One of the most impactful aspects of their assistance was their meticulous collection of evidence and documentation for my sanctuary case.

The detailed support letter they submitted to the Home Office played a crucial role in securing a positive decision on my sanctuary claim.

 

Integration into the LGBTQ+ Community:

Rainbow Home encouraged my participation in Northern Pride and other LGBTQ+ advocacy events.

Their workshops and discussions helped me feel connected and empowered, reinforcing my identity in a safe and inclusive space.

 

Opportunities for Artistic Expression:

As an artist, being part of Rainbow Home allowed me to share my story through art.

One of my most meaningful experiences was performing a live painting at Republic Gallery on World AIDS Day, an event that combined artistic expression with raising awareness for LGBTQ+ and HIV-related issues.

 

Practical Assistance:

Beyond legal and emotional support, they also helped with understanding my rights, accessing healthcare, and adapting to life in the UK as a refugee.

Their guidance on housing, employment, and education continues to be invaluable.

 

A Life-Changing Impact

Without Rainbow Home, my asylum process would have been far more difficult and isolating. Their dedication, compassion, and unwavering support gave me the strength to continue, even in my most challenging moments.

I will always be grateful for their role in helping me secure my refugee status, and I hope to remain involved in their work—supporting others as they supported me.

Thank you, Rainbow Home, for being a light in the darkness.

I cannot express in words just how grateful I am for everything you have done for me. From the very first moment I reached out to you, when I felt completely alone, you were there. You were the only ones who offered me a helping hand when I had no one else to turn to.

Your support throughout my sanctuary process has been incredible. You found me a place to stay when I had nowhere to go, connected me with a lawyer when I needed guidance, and were always there to provide whatever I needed, no matter how small.

What touches me the most is how you continuously checked in on me, always asking if there was anything else I needed. Your kindness and generosity have made me feel like I have a family here, like I’m truly home. I’ve never felt so supported, and I owe that all to you.

Rainbow Home isn’t just an organization to me; it’s a lifeline, a community that has embraced me and given me hope when I needed it the most. I truly don’t have the words to fully express what Rainbow Home has meant to me. During the darkest and most uncertain time of my life, when I was navigating the fear and loneliness of the sanctuary process, they were the only ones who stood by me. They found me a safe place to stay when I had nowhere to go, helped me find a lawyer to fight for my case, and made sure I never felt abandoned. They didn’t just offer practical help—they offered me dignity, warmth, and genuine care. They always checked in, asked how I was doing, and made sure I had what I needed, even when I didn’t have the strength to ask for it. Their support was constant and unwavering, and because of them, I never had to face any of it alone. Now that I’ve been granted sanctuary, I look back with overwhelming gratitude. Rainbow Home wasn’t just a helping hand—they were my safe place, my anchor, and my family when I had none. I honestly don’t know where—or how—I would be today if there was no Rainbow Home.

Hello everyone,

My pronouns are he/him and I’m a bisexual man from Sierra Leone , West Africa. I want to take a moment to share a piece of my experience with Rainbow home with you all.  Before I met rainbow home I was going through a difficult time , challenging moments when I felt overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure of how to move forward.  But in the midst of that storm, Rainbow home stood by me in ways I will never forget. Being in the sanctuary system was an overwhelming and stressful journey, a journey that I couldn’t have made it this far with your support. Rainbow home listened to my story and believed in me. They support me in every single step of my journey to freedom. Freedom to be open and free as a bisexual man.

From the kind words during appointments with me, from the safe space you  created, to the encouragement that lifted my spirit, I felt  loved, heard, and seen. The mind group and trips with other members of the group have contributed immensely to my mental well-being. Each message, hug, and moment of understanding during appointment, meeting and outings reminded me that I’m not alone. You showed me what true community and chosen family look like.

Because of your support,  I’m now free from that constant fear that was weakening my self worth. Now I’m finding my strength again, I’m learning to be kinder to myself, to embrace the next chapter of my life, and to move forward with courage.
